Eclipse in June 2011.

Solar and Lunar Eclipse in June, 2011 are occurs as below:

Solar Eclipse 01 June 2011:

Vikram Samvat 2067 Vaishakha Vad 30 Wednesday, 01 June 2011 Solar Eclipse occurs at the Moons descending node in Taurus.  The event is a partial eclipse at 50.5% (magnitude 0.6010) and is visible from high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere.  The eclipse begins at sunrise in Siberia/northern China at 19:25:18 UT/GMT.  Maximum eclipse is on Arctic coast of Western Siberia where the eclipsed Sun will kiss the northern horizon.  Most of Alaska and northern Canada will be able to observe the eclipse.  The southern limit of the penumbra shadow falls along a curve from the south of Fairbanks to central New Brunswick and Nova Scotia areas.

Iceland's capital Reykjavik will see a 0,462 magnitude eclipse as the Sun sets. Northern Norway, Sweden and Finland will see a Midnight Sun Eclipse with the Sun hanging very close to the horizon.  This will probably be one of the best places to see the eclipse. The partial eclipse ends at 23:06:56 UT/GMT when the penumbra shadow leaves Earth's surface north of Newfoundland in the Atlantic Ocean.

It will not observe in India.

Penumbral Eclipse Begins:             24:55 IST.

Partial Eclipse middle:                    26:46 IST.

Penumbral Eclipse Ends:                28:37 IST.

Solar Eclipse gives favorable result to people whose Moon sign respectively Karka (Cancer), Simha (Leo), Vrischika (Scorpio), Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Meena (Pisces).

Solar Eclipse gives mixed result to people whose Moon sign respectively Mesh (Aries), Kanya (Virgo) and Makar (Capricorn).

Solar Eclipse gives unfavorable result to people whose Moon sign respectively Vrishabha (Taurus), Mithuna (Gemini), Tula (Libra) and Kumbha (Aquarius).

Lunar Eclipse 15 June 2011 :

The first lunar eclipse of 2011 occurs in Dhanu (Sagittarius) Rasi-Moon sign on 15th June, 2011 Wednesday Vikram Samvata 2067 Jyestha Sud 15 at the Moon's ascending node in southern Ophiuchus about 7° west of the Lagoon Nebula (M8). The Moon passes deeply through Earth's umbral shadow during this rather long event. The total phase itself lasts 100 minutes. The last eclipse to exceed this duration was in July 2000. The Moon's contact times with Earth's umbral and penumbral shadows are listed below.

Penumbral Eclipse Begins:             23:52 IST.

Partial Eclipse middle:                    25:43 IST.

Total Eclipse Ends:                        27:33 IST.

The entire event will be seen from the eastern half of Africa, the Middle East, central Asia and Western Australia. Observers throughout Europe will miss the early stages of the eclipse because they occur before moonrise. Fortunately, totality will be seen throughout the continent except for northern Scotland and northern Scandinavia. Eastern Asia, eastern Australia, and New Zealand will miss the last stages of eclipse because they occur after moonset. Again, the total phase will be seen from most of these regions. Even observers in eastern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina will witness totality. However, none of the eclipse will be visible from North America. At mid-eclipse, the Moon is near the zenith for observers from Reunion and Mauritius.

Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) will take place on June 15, 2011 in India. According to NASA, the Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) is a Total lunar eclipse and is visible in India, Dubai, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and western parts of Australia. The Lunar Eclipse (Chandragrahan) will be taking place in India between 23:52 and 03:33 (11:52 PM on June 15 to 03:33 AM early morning on June 16, 2011.) Total Lunar Eclipse - the moon is fully covered - is from 00:52 hrs to 02:33 hrs.

In India - Time in India is from night of June 15, 2011 to early morning hours of June 16, 2011.

Lunar Eclipse gives favorable result to people whose Moon sign respectively Karka (Cancer), Tula (Libra), Kumbha (Aquarius) and Meena (Pisces).

Lunar Eclipse gives mixed result to people whose Moon sign respectively Mesh (Aries), Mithuna (Gemini), Simha (Leo) and Vrischika (Scorpio).

Lunar Eclipse gives unfavorable result to people whose Moon sign respectively Vrishabha (Taurus), Kanya (Virgo), Dhanu (Saggitarius) and Makar (Capricorn).

Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan and Hindus):

Usually during a Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) a fast (Upvaas) is observed by certain communities in Hindu religion. The fast begins about 9 hours before the beginning of Lunar Eclipse ( Chandra Grahan.)

People also take a bath in cold water and chant mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Shiva like the Ashtakshara Mantra or Mrityunjaya Mantra. This is done whenever Surya and Chandra are under the influence of Rahu. Pregnant women chant the Santana Gopala Mantra.
